What is Online Tutoring with caribbeanischool.com?
- Online tutoring is a service provided by caribbeanischool.com to provide learning support for students on the site. Tutoring is provided via e-mail interaction between student and tutor and via live online classes conducted in an online course room. Tutoring may be provided at any time by responding to student’s questions or by providing additional study information to students. Tutors are also required to provide at least one hour per week of live online tutoring in the Caribbeanischool.com course room. Up to ten students may attend a single online tutoring session. Tutors work with each student to provide help, not answers, and to bring every interaction to an educationally sound conclusion. The appropriateness, accuracy and timeliness of interaction with students will be monitored to ensure a quality experience for the student
How much time should I expect to commit to caribbeanischool.com?
- We ask that tutors commit to tutoring consistently week to week from September through May. The best times to plan for tutoring are during peak times, which are September through May, Sunday through Thursday, 4:00pm - 11:00pm Eastern Time. Summers are very slow, as are holidays and weekends (Friday & Saturday).
What are the requirements and qualifications I need to meet in order to be considered to become a tutor?
- Currently teaching or previously taught the subject(s) being tutored at the CSEC Level at a high school in the Caribbean
- Taken the subject to be tutored at the CSEC level during the past three years and earned a Grade 1
- Favorable reference from the Principal of the school affiliated with
- Comfortable and competent with using the computer and internet
- The ability to explain concepts to young people within our online environment
What are my duties and responsibilities as a tutor?
- Provide quality online tutoring to all students
- Host live online classes
- Check email often for any messages from students or caribbeanischool.com
- Provide educationally sound responses to questions posed or explanations sought by students
- Be familiar with all policies and procedures and adhere to them
- Read and respond to all caribbeanischool.com assessments and communication
How will I be paid to tutor?
- Pay is based on the number of students assigned to you for tutoring
- You will be paid as an independent contractor. This means that taxes are not deducted from your payment. It is your responsibility to file your taxes
- Payments are made out to you by check or electronically every 4th business day of the month
How much will I be paid to be a tutor?
- Payments will be made for each student assigned to you as follows:

Per Student Payment to Tutor | $20 | $55 | $100 | $135 |
How do I apply for a tutor position?
- In order to apply to become a caribbeanischool.com tutor, you will need to complete and submit the online application. You will be contacted to complete the process. The entire application and screening process can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks.
Will I get any training?
- Each tutor will be given a site orientation and training on how to use the tutor functions on the website.
Are there any fees or costs associated with becoming a tutor?
